Why Does Freezer Have Ice Buildup Or Frost?

Columbine Appliance & Fireplaces is often asked why a customer in Boulder ~ Ft. Collins may experience ice buildup or frost on their freezer. What is considered normal for a freezer is having small ice droplets appear on the back panel or interior freezer walls. Leaving the door open for extended periods of time may also result in frost builing up. It is best to make certain the door of the freezer is closed completely and is not blocked by an item between the door gasket and freezer cabinet. Frequently opening and closing the freezer door will often result in letting in humid room air which in turn can result in unwanted frost buildup.
